![]() | I am a big hairy guy and i know lots of big hairy guys who smoke and drink and are wonderful parents. I feel the whole "image" thing is something to talk about. Because i have dreadlocks does that make me a bad image for the sport? Some may say yes and others no. We should not try to be an elitist sport like many others tend to be.Ping G15 Irons We should be proud of the diversity of people who play this game. We are way more diverse than lets say ball golf or tennis or even Nascar. Who really cares if someone is smoking a cig or having a beer, i know i certainly do not. But then again i look beyond the way someone looks or their image, it sounds like some cant. "and until the color of a mans skin is no more significant than the color of his eyes" How do you feel about the "image' of most pro skateboarders, snowboarders or bmxers. Look at Michael Phelps who was pictured Ping G15 Ironssmoking a bong. Do you think that picture is going to keep parents from letting thier kids be swimmers. Heck no, the guy won 8 gold medals who cares if he smokes weed. In the previous mentioned sports many are long hair, smokers with tons of tattooes but yet there are millions of kids who skateboard, snowboard and ride BMX bikes and millions of parents who buy them skateboards. Do you really Ping G15 Ironsthink that "public image" is keeping parents from buying their kids boards or bikes. I think the "image " card is to overplayed. Its the people who are running events, running the PDGA who are keeping this sport stuck in wholesale golf clubsthe middle ages. Its not the "image"of disc golfers. The Womens national event was held this past weekend and what kind of coverage did the PDGA offer during the weekend, none. That is a problem more than image. That event could have had lots of PDGA coverage but it did not. Coverage that would have got Moms, and kids interested. Ping G15 Irons Look beyond image and see whats really keeping this sport back. |
