| Senior Member Fanatic | It's not a requirement, but it is a step ahead of an html based website. If you take the time to do your site right, and if you're talking about production quality then you should be, than you will know that there are other methods of getting your site crawled and listed with the search engines correctly. With that said there are plenty of really nice websites that don't use Flash, although I'm a HUGE fan of Flash so all these sites will ever be is really nice, nothing great. Take Care. _Michael

![]() | Yeah flash I very useful for web design. Most sites I see, use flash, that i remember. But if you have a site that changes articles, must you make a new .swf for every new one or is there an easier way? Examples of good flash-enabled sites: www.truemonitors.com www.ign.com

| Senior Member Aficionado | no you can use code to get the flash website to update itself, and thus no need for new flash sites. check out www.actionscript.org and there are loads of tutorials on there which will tell you how to do this :) |

| Senior Member Fanatic | Flash isn't the only platform that this is possible in though. It can also be accomplished using AJAX, although Flash will be the safer alternative, because AJAX is a combination of Javascript and XML, these are two seperate standards, with that said these standards in no way are managed to benefit eachother, ECMA has it's specific purposes and XML has it's purpose. Nothing is to prevent either of these from changing. _Michael
