Default Popular Domain Name Trends

Popular domain name trends… We all did it… Heck – we all still do it. For every year there is a new .com name trend and we all can’t go buy them at one time or another. Heck – im sure we all know that this – or maybe even the next COUPLE years or so is the year(s) of the “MY”somethings or maybe something”MY” something. Regardless of where you put it – the word “MY” is popping up in more and more domains these days and we got to get use to it. Right now I know I have at least 4 domains with the word “MY” in it

How many do YOU HAVE!?

My website has "my" at the beginning, but it's just a part of another word!

My guess is that many domains are trying to clone the success of "MySpace" and "YouTube" by introducing personal-sounding domain names.

Sorry I have not noticed any "MY" domains names. I couldn't see me using one either, unless it for a hobbies site or something. I try to keep keywords only in my domain names(if I can). I can't see "MY" being a keyword I would use. That is just me though. I think MYspace might have got this trend going, what do you think?

You're probably right Xhris. I don't recall seeing Myanything before MySpace became popular.

I seem to remember seeing a thread on another site about there being a purchasing splurge on usernames. Such as photomom.com. People are actually buying their usernames.com or .net like crazy.

Come to think of it, photomom.com kind of has a ring to it.......I bet it's taken

Yes I think most people are getting them to use for blogs. I have seen some blogs with the domain name as the owners name. Kinda a cool idea, but I don't really want to buy my name. Heck I own it I was born with it they should just give me the domain. LMAO

I'll have to check and see if brighteyes.com is available. That's an interesting concept, imo. Think about it. If you use the same username on every forum you visit, you become known by that, it's your "trademark" so to speak. So what better domain could you have! People will always know where to find you.

My username has been my 'trademark' for years, and it was the first domain name that I bought, though I use that domain almost exclusively for mail and general fooling around and testing now. I have one 'my' domain, but it's part of a phrase - findmymuse.com. I picked it up last month to use for a 'writing prompt' site for poets and writers. The other day, I realized that I really wanted feedmymuse.com as well, checked it and it was available - but I couldn't pick it up just then. Two days later... someone grabbed it. Bah.

I'm thinking it's all about 'brandable' non-words these days. the internet has been around long enough that anything with common words, worth anything is already taken. you're lucky to come up with something easy enough to type with minimal syllables that rolls off the tongue well.
