| Sexual Harassment Panda Aficionado | Digg is a community-based popularity website with an emphasis on technology and science articles. It combines social bookmarking, blogging, and syndication with a form of non-hierarchical, democratic editorial control. News stories and websites are submitted by users, and then promoted to the front page through a user-based ranking system. This differs from the hierarchical editorial system that many other news sites employ.

What i wonder sometimes is why when a one website pretty much controls a certain industry or anything related, noone ever really wants to create an alternative. Digg.com is clearly the most popular social bookmarking site. Not much unlike what cota said Quote:
I am aware that there are alternatives such as furl and del.icio.us, but they dont nearly come close to digg's popularity and sheer power. When a website understands that power and is as influential as digg without many real competitors to worry about, arrogance and an uncarring attitude such as what we're discussing right now is inevitable. Digg.com understand the importance of Search Engine Optimization to web developers and what their website can do for another. You can almost qualify them as a Search Engine Optimization site because of that fact. It's this fact that probably drives their hatred of other SEO related sites such as sitepoint, digitalpoint and the other website sinjix_media quoted in the second post. | ||

![]() | Hey john, i noticed that you had a link on the page you created for comments related. Two things you're probably going to have to do is change the url of the link and repost the poll as im sure people would like to get back to voting.
