| Administrator Disciple | Dont forget the fact that it lowers your drive's effective access time.

| Member Enthusiast | The only time I ever partition my hard drive is when i redo my computer... So much faster then formating... It's never done anything to my drive speed though... I usally use the software that comes with my hard drive... I download the the bootable ISO and away I go :) |

| Administrator Disciple | Over 100 times!?!?!? Why would you need to format the thing over 100 times in 4 years? I have a couple friends that have done it almost half as much as you have and that to me was crazy. I just dont see why someone would do that.

| Junior Member Casual Browser | Formating to some people is an easy fix when it comes to problems with windows or any other OS and also hardware.I prefer to spend the time working on the problem rather than mopping it up and not knowing how to fix it if it continues to happen. TC, Josh |

| Administrator Disciple | I agree with verdammte Schei. I prefer sorting my problem out – It’s the only way to really learn. I think I started out by hanging ou tin the PC help chat rooms on MSN and message boards – asking questions and what not. In fact I think verdammte Schei and I met in one of those rooms. I would download these little utilities at download.com that would promises better performance and what not. The only problem there and what I didn’t know was that these little utilities, while working somewhat were hogging resources. Then I moved on to the tweaks – power toys for windows xp – disabling services, learning how to manually clean my registry. It was all very fun to me, still is. |
