What makes a blog appealing to you? What design features, colours, etc?

I'm just starting mine (again)

What makesa blog appealing, the offering of relevant information. I could give a rats ass about a total strangers rants on his/her own existance. Michael has an outstanding blog over at www.CreateAge.com nothing be relevant Flash information.

Hm. Do you know that some of the things in the sidebar are broken? The adsense goes horizantally when it should go vertically. The flickr images go past the border. (Can you shrink them to 160 pixels wide or something?)

Looking good man, I don't like the way your gradient is, it doesn't look smooth enough? I'm not sure if I am saying it right.

yeah the ad's and flicker images are to big, and the gradient is'n't smooth either. But at least you got content, now just work on the rest and it'll be a good blog

Listen to Cota on this one. The most amazing design in the world won't hold people's interest if you don't give them something to read. If you put in enough information to keep people coming back, you can get away with ranting and commentary.

As far as design - clean and easy to follow is nice. Enough white space to define columns and separations to keep things from being confusing. I personally also like blogs that use a 'more...' link on their front page rather than putting the whole post up there. It keeps your front page shorter, and leads people to click to the inside pages. Design-wise, it breaks up the long column of text in your blog with headlines and linkage, and that makes for easier reading. (That's my opinion of course. I'm sure there are people who just want to able to scroll down without having to click to another page to get the rest of the post)

I should apologize for being harsh in my response before. You just have to offer something of substance. A blog about nothing in particular is no different than the other 40 million blogs out there.

I like unique blogs. There are many blogs out there, posting the same thing. Also, you need a topic where new stuff comes up at least 5 times a week, or else your blog will be outdated and no one would visit.

Yeah. Informative. I have enough of my own drama in life. I don't need to read about someone else's. I also hate pop-ups and lots of animation. Keep it simple.

I think what makes me want to read a blog is the information. Look at JoyStiq. Not the best design in the world but I love the information they give me.

Since you moved the adsense, there's a big empty space in the sidebar now where it used to be. And I noticed the flickr images are just gone now. Looks ilke it's getting closer to perfect though.

What I like about a blog is the content.
Looks are ok.
The most important thing of a blog is its intergration and how easy it is to use for users.

What should I put on it? I've considered starting another one (with a clever name I'm not revealing yet) criticising the united states and how rediculous it's becoming these days in terms of elections,terorism,money,music etc with bi weekly entries...think it would be of interest?
