![]() | Any one use a dynamic coding to do their web design, such as php, cgi, and coldfusion? I use php along with mysql, it saves a lot of time. If I am making a site which there are non web designers int he staff, I will use php's fwrite along with the template design. A great combination |

| Junior Member Casual Browser | tiddlers??? WTF!? That's right, I use a dynamic website engine built on the TiddlyWiki engine, using an implimentation called ccTiddly which I've found I really like, save for a few remaining cross-browser issues. you should check out http://www.tiddlywiki.com to see what I'm talking about. |

More on topic (or answering the question at any rate) when I'm creating from scratch, I use php with Mysql and create my own user interface for adding content so that it's easy to add content and update the site regularly. If you're designing profesionally, I think at least a simple content management system that your end user can use is an absolute must. Last edited by chameleon; 05-07-2006 at 04:59 AM. | Senior Member Fanatic | At my previous employer I worked full-time developing content management systems, both Flash and static front ends, developed communcations for all sites (sister sites as well) and they were in two environments. We had 3 servers, I worked full-time in both .net2 (using C# and MS SQL Server 2005) and linux (running PHP4 and MySQL). Honestly both have their ups and downs, I liked them both, I like the structure of C# FAR more than I like php, but have been using php for a few years now. I feel that if you get really comfortable with one language you can cram a bunch in your head. In any event, my new job I am strictly an Actionscript Developer, I will do server side integration with .net and php again as well, and I'm sure that I will be doing database work. My suggestion is to just learn one language well, preferably a well-structured, functional language (something you can make money with while learning). C# would be a good starter. _Michael

| Member Enthusiast | I use XML and PHP together with Actionscript. I'm not a pro when it comes to scripting but I'm getting there. I'm busy working on a CMS for flash sites, actually for my own site but I want to implement it in designs that I make and hopefully sell it at a reasonable price together with templates. That's my next business venture. |
