Default Basic tips about web development

Are you planning to own a website for your business? If you are planning to develop a website for your business, you should have a basic idea of the importance of user friendly web designs. Application of these ideas will help you to make an interactive website, and thereby create a better impact on the viewers. Designing is one of the crucial parts of web development. It should make a website self supportive, and capable of selling a product or a service online successfully.
Your website should give a comprehensive idea about the products and services that you offer. It should also give the conditions for availing the products and services, as well as the order processing methods that you follow.
Here are a few basic web designing & development tips.
Select a domain that’s inspiring; something that clearly says about your business entity. It should be unique and should help to identify the products and services of the company. A good domain is one of the most important parts of a website. It helps to get a good position during web search. Find a good domain name and give your hosting services to a good hosting company. They will help in setting up your website professionally, and will help you to enjoy a good page ranking.
You should have a basic idea about the tools which you need for web designing. Look upon them from the SEO side too. This will help you too create a website that’s user & SEO friendly.
The business transactions made through the website should be easy, simple and trust generating.
The website design should have the individuality to focus on the targeted customers, should convince them, and win their confidence.

I would like to add some more:

Browser Compatibility:
Make sure your site is browser compatible. Your web site should look good in Netscape as well as in Internet Explorer.

Check for broken links:
A dead give away for a non-professional website is broken links. Always check for broken links any time you make changes to your site.

Design your website for all Resolutions:
Generally computer resolutions range from 640 x 480 to 1024 x 768 and higher. The recommendation is to design your site for all these resolutions. The easiest way to accommodate every resolution is to design your site in terms of percentage and not pixels. Also, test it under the various resolutions in all types of computers including Macintosh users and Windows computers at the library and at all other institutions.

Examine your site's source code:
You should examine your source code and ensure that your primary keywords or phrases will be spidered first. Search engines place higher relevancy on keywords and phrases which appear closer to the top of a page.

Easy to Navigate:
Make sure all your important links are at places that are easy to find, preferably right on top. This is where most visitors will look.

Fast Loading pages:
The goal for any web designer should be to have the page you are working on load in 15 seconds. Remember, you might have a great design but very few people are going to see it if it takes a long time to load.

Readable and professional looking fonts:
Don't use all CAPS, bright colors such as bright pink or green, or unusual fonts. Remember, sometimes "less is more".

Use of white space:
Keep your website design simple. Try not to clutter the pages with too many flashing graphics and colorful fonts. It is tiresome on the eye to try and read a page that has too much going on. Use white space to convey a "clean" sense on your pages. White space also is good for users who are using a lower resolution browser because they don’t have to scroll to view the information.
