Default Re: What Still Graphics Program Do You Use?

You're a great guy Xhris07 and I'd love to tell you, but I will not give the jerks the satisfaction of posting their URL on our forums.

My reasons for calling them jerks is not because of the individual's opinion on the software because i am not bias.

I'm not even a member of their forums, but when i see the kind of treatment they give to some of their regular members it sickens me. We are fortunate not to have created any enemies here at ny-dev and I'd like to keep it that way, so I will keep the quoted post up, but leave the URL out of it.

I can't believe that someone actually SAID that. Obviously someone who doesn't have the software and has never used it, has NO idea of it's versatility and professionalism.

SHP, good on you for not posting the link to wherever you dug that up from. Their ignorance is a waste of time

Dont take this the wrong way. But, versatility is not something measured by software. Everything in this industry comes down to this: The artist. Software is simply a choice. I, personally, dont care what software you use, the end result is all that matters. You could MS Paint, but if the end product is good, then you win in my book.

Well said. I have seen some great designs come out of some really cheap software. It is how comfortable the person feels with it. Heck I still play in MS Paint just to see what it can do.

very very true

I use paint shop pro 8 for my digital photography. Everyone touts photoshop but I found it confusing and a very steep learning curve. I dont have time for that . PSP 8 gives me the results I and the photo lab need for printing.

I'm going to have to go against what SHP said because this is just waaaaay too interesting not to link to.

I started a thread at talkgraphics.com about the logo creator after having read a post by brighteyes about it. it's just been so interesting; Laughable actually to see what this thread has turned into.

It actually started an argument between the owner/creators of both software titles.

To think, I just started the thread out of pure curiosity. The staff at talkgraphics, which is the official message board for Xara were under the impression that i was some spammer working for the logo creator.

Laughable indeed.

Quote:
Wow.

I must say, I'm a little hurt at how this thread turned out.

I was searching Google for "The Logo Creator" and found this forum and this particular thread.

My name is Marc Sylvester - I'm the creator of The Logo Creator.
I'm sorry that Parahandy thinks he's gotten a raw deal, and I'm sorry to hear how bitter Risto Klint is!

I honestly am not out to take your job Risto. Why would you want to trash my software so harshly!

I was ... and am ... a graphic designer. I created all of the images found in The Logo Creator. I also create the websites and do my own marketing and eMail campaigns. Our forum is now over 8,500 strong.

I created The Logo Creator back in 2001 as a way to raise above the competition, and it's been a great seller since.

Users who want to create a logo for under 40 (US) dollars can do so with this software. Users that want to spend a little more for a more powerful piece of software can spend $200 on Xara Extreme (a great piece of software!) or $600 for Photoshop (the best there is).

As jamesmc said previously, "It is not so much the design that the software can do, but the designer".

GOOD on him!! That is the kind of man Marc is.

However, I'm not so sure that you should have linked to the download, sinjix. That link was for the members of that board. I hope you got Marc's permission to distribute it?

Yes that thread did get all out of control. But I agree with brighteyes sinjix, you might wanna remove the links in the quote. Unless permission is granted. Just looking out for you not being a meany(if that is a word).

It will always be up the artist to choose their weapon of designs. I have seen some really great stuff come out of MS Paint.

Hello Sinjix_media!
Great forum you've got here. I'm proud to now be a member of it.

I was told about it by a member in my own forum.
She actually pointed me to this particular thread.

I really appreciate you guys ... and gals ... in here watching my back.
Brighteyes - SHP, Synjx, Xhris, really, it's much appreciated.

The original post mentioned here was found on the 'talkgraphics' forum. I found it by doing a search on Google. I found the post by "NY-Dev" (SynjxMedia in here!) and wanted to reply after their forum moderator (Risto Klint) first trashed Synjx ... then trashed my software! He really left a bad taste in my mouth.

Personally, I like Xara products very much and didn't know I was responding in their product's forum. I don't think Risto Klint is actually an owner of the software, just a Mod in the forums. Don't really know. ... but he's really a jerk (to kindly use SHP's word!)

Anyway, just wanted to chime in here - tell Synjx I'm sorry he was thought a spammer and to thank you for basically sticking up for me in here :)

SHP, if you care to provide those links again to some of the members here reading this thread, please do. (Don't post them openly however. That was a mistake on my part in the heat of the moment).

- Marc

Hello Marc,

Thank you for that comment. We're honored to have you here as a member in our community.

It's no problem at all to defend honest people like you from arrogant "JERKS" like Risto Klint. I actually think talkgraphics forums should find a better way to represent their product's official message board because i, like you wasnt aware that i was posting on Xara Xtreme's official message board at first at all. I was actually shocked by his behavior as a representative.

Honestly I have not used your product or Xara Xtreme to really compare, but the real question here is are they even really competing products? IMO they aren't. They represent two completely different aspects of design and i think there can be two completely different uses for them.

I appreciate you taking the time out to register and post on our humble community and i hope to hear more from you as I'm sure we can become better friends than we already are.

P.S
Thanks to whom ever referred you.

Thanks Sinjx!
I appreciate the welcome.

I'm glad we've met.

Risto Klint is really a bad seed.
I was a little floored that he talked so freely about The Logo Creator being trash in an open forum (now over 400 viewers have read the post!).

I again went in to tell Risto that TLC is, in fact, a good tool for serious designers.

But now, he's banned me altogether in the forum! I can't even log in if I wanted help with my Xara products. Check out the thread now. He said I was "bumping" my thread. He thought my comments were meant to keep my thread at the top of the list? It's a forum.

Now, whenever I see his little face, I think of the Grinch song ("you're a mean one... Mr. Grinch). :)
