Does anyone know how certain sites display a link tree for their websites on google?

I believe is not certain people doing so, but Google when there is enough information to do that.

I had a site that was showing the content that way without doing nothing.
Sadly the domain name expired about one month ago and all that was lost.

It may have something to do with the site-tree/map software that Google has, somewhere (I think I'm accurate in this, but it has been a while so I may be remembering incorrectly).

I believe so. Have you tried putting together a sitemap for Google Sitemaps? I have done so, and my site hasn't been reindexed since yet (it's only been about a week) but I'm hoping this will improve my display in Google.

Good idea setting up that sitemap reviewer.
In my experience it usually takes around two weeks to get the whole thing sorted by Google.
I have seen sites that go up fresh one day and submitted get a pr7 in a month's time.

This all is done by google itself, whenever you search for a keyword the website appearing on top if is a trusted website then google also shows other relevant keywords along with you searched for.
