![]() ![]() | How Not to Steal A Sidekick In a nutshell - on June 6, Evan's friend left her Sidekick in a cab. Said sidekick was picked up by some girl from Queens who proceeded to have her boyfriend take pictures of her with it and uploaded them to her aol account. When Evan and friend contacted them (by calling the phone), the 16 year old girl who had the phone basically told him to stuff it. So he did... onto a web page asking that anyone with information about these people contact him and - he said - intending to shame them into returning the sidekick. So. It would just be another funny story except... in less than four days, this guy has managed to get over 750 links to his stolen sidekick page, as well as offers of server space, radio interviews, the police involved and more. On the third day, he decided to put up a forum so people could post things... the first four times he tried, the sheer number of people attempting to register crashed the server. When he finally DID get the forum up, he got over 2500 posts in just a few hours. This totally blows my mind - do you know how many SEO companies would kill to be able to generate that kind of buzz overnight?

![]() ![]() | Nope, actually, the photos are just the kind of photos a couple of kids trying out a new camera would take. She's fully dressed in all of them, and the most provocative of any of them has her sticking out her tongue to show off her piercing stud. This whole thing has been internet vigilante justice at its most extreme. The story has been picked up all over the place, and the reaction is nastiest on forums populated by - go figure - teenage boys. Some of the funniest/most ridiculous threads I've seen have been among 15-17 year olds arguing back and forth between 'I'd do her, dude' and 'what an ugly skank! I wouldn't touch that with someone else's...' And of course, the real fun started when people started accusing the guy of making the whole thing up for the publicity. Hell, if you could engineer this...?

![]() | That was a pretty interesting read. Makes you wonder how many people out there do that to get some good SEO going. I mean you see how easy it was for him to get the traffic from a stolen cell phone. I think the guy could now sell the site and probably get a good price for it. Thanks for sharing this. |

![]() | What bizarre story. Thing is IMO that easy come, easy go. I mean how many links are still leading to that site are remotely active. Although, having said that, has anyone seen my cell-phone with nekkid pictures of my girlfriend on it?!?! :p

![]() | Where is the "How to"? I'm not sure how he did this other than digg.com

![]() | The point is that having an interesting story that gets picked up in 'net culture will cause a lot of instant success. It's not really a "how-to" for everyone. |

![]() | You can get the 1000 links from different ways its not difficult. You can get the 500 to 600 links from directory submissions if you have approved directories sites. You can also submit your link in article directories and Social Bookmarking. Its very good way to get the quick links of your website within 3 to 4 days. |
